Now that's worth tuning in for! Sexy schoolmarm Christine Bleakley brightens up Daybreak in pussybow blouse and pencil skirt

By Chris Johnson

With tumbling viewing figures, her new TV show is in crisis.

But embattled Daybreak host Christine Bleakley could just have a trick up her sartorial sleeve, judging by her strict schoolmarm outfit today.

The Northern Irish presenter, 31, turned on the sex appeal in a rather saucy get-up, perhaps in the hope that her alluring display may appeal to viewers who are switching off in their droves.

Turning on the charm: Christine Bleakley went for the strict schoolmarm look in a high-necked pussybow blouse on Daybreak this morning

Christine, who dates Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard, looked fetching in a rusty red pussybow blouse, teamed with a black pencil skirt, tights and heels.

Her hair, which she normally wears loose, was piled high on top of her head into a bun, completing the retro look.

And, of course, her domineering look didn't go unnoticed. Co-host Adrian Chiles commented that she looked like a school mistress.

And guest Alice Cooper was also rather zealous in his appraisal.

'I like the high-necked look,' the rocker told her, before adding, 'You should have a ruler.'

Appealing: She teamed her top half with a pencil skirt, black tights and heels, with co-host Adrian Chiles complimenting her on her styling

According to reports today Bleakley, who defected from the BBC to ITV earlier this year, has shelved plans to make a workout DVD.

The Sun claims Christine pulled out at the eleventh hour because she has no time to do it.

She is said to be spending lots of time attending crisis meetings over Daybreak.

Now her agents says she will move the project back to April - which means she will miss out on the lucrative post-Christmas market for fitness DVDs.

Figures released last week showed that just 530,000 viewers are now tuning in to ITV’s troubled breakfast show – a third of the audience for its BBC rival, Breakfast.

It is also a drop of 200,000 on its predecessor GMTV, which ITV bosses axed in a bid to bring audiences back to its breakfast programming.

ITV has ploughed £15million into launching Daybreak, poaching star duo Miss Bleakley and Chiles, 43, from the BBC to front it and investing in a state-of-the-art studio.

But it has failed to impress audiences, and ratings have steadily fallen from nearly 900,000 in the launch week, with many complaining that the programme is too lightweight, and that Chiles and £1million-a-year Miss Bleakley lack the personal magic that made them famous on The One Show on BBC1.

And now for her usual look: Christine is a fan of denims and casual tops, seen left in London last week and, right, out for dinner in Chelsea back in August
