Sammy Milewski, who gave birth to baby Greyson in January, admitted she is disgusted by the 23-year-old actor's behaviour after a DNA test apparently confirmed he is the father.
The 25-year-old has been left to raise Greyson entirely on her own as Shepherd concentrates on his relationship with long-term girlfriend Lauren Shippey and their two-year-old daughter Nyla.
She told The People: 'I honestly thought that once Jack had proof that Greyson was his son, he would do the decent thing. I really hoped he would accept responsibility. But obviously not.
'We got the results more than a week ago and he still hasn't been in touch. You'd think he would phone or even send a text.
'It's not about the money but he hasn't even bought him a baby grow. It shows how little he thinks of his own flesh and blood. The way he is behaving is pathetic and stupid.'Milewski and Shepherd met a nightclub last April and spent the night together, resulting in Milewski's pregnancy.
She claims Shepherd, who plays David Platt in Coronation Street, had told her he and Shippey had split before they became romantically involved.
When news of Shepherd's infidelity emerged, he came forward to issue a public apology to Shippey, who eventually forgave the soap star and the pair continued raising their daughter together.
Now Milewski is asking Shepherd to support her and his son financially.
She explained: 'I felt awkward asking for money, but at the end of the day I want the best for my child.
'There is no one to support me financially and I have to make sure Greyson has everything that he needs. Simple things like nappies are so expensive.
'I am dreading leaving Greyson to go out to work while he is still so young, but I don't have much choice if I'm to look after him properly.'
It is claimed the Coronation Street star now faces a £1,000-a-month bill in child maintenance fees to look after Greyson.
However, Shepherd is said to be unsure how he will cope with the huge payments on his salary when he also has to look after daughter Nyla as well.
A source told the Daily Star Sunday: 'Jack's head is all over the place. He's starting to get to grips with the idea he's the father of a child he's never likely to see.
'But he's been scratching his head as he doesn't know how he's going to manage to pay up. It's certainly going to have a huge financial impact on him. It's likely to affect him emotionally as well.'
A spokesperson for the actor declined to comment.
