Allegations: Astrologist Russell Grant has suggest in an interview that Diana was murdered. The Strictly Come Dancing contestant also claims he warned the Princess she was in danger ahead of her death
Russell Grant has claimed he foresaw Princess Diana's death 21 days before a fateful car crash ended her life.
In a series of wild claims, the astrologer insists he warned Diana not to travel with Dodi and, shockingly, alleges that the Princess was murdered.
Speaking to the Radio Times, the Strictly Come Dancing star told how his prediction of Diana's demise was printed in a newspaper on 10 August 1997.
'I basically said their relationship was so fated it was going to end in tears,' he said.
'And she died on 31 August.'
Grant, whose career has been somewhat revived by his appearance on BBC1 dance show Strictly, went further with his revelations, dramatically alleging that Diana was the victim of murder.
'She was a wonderful, fabulous, glorious person' he said of Diana. 'A pity she was murdered.'
So in his wisdom, did Grant warn Diana of her fast-approaching demise?
'Oh yes, I warned her. I said: ‘Don’t go there, love. Just don’t go anywhere with him [Dodi Fayed]. You’ve got to knock this on the head."
Close: Grant was a confidante of Diana, although their friendship was not made public until after her death when Paul Burrell revealed the details
Grant says the relationship was doomed from the start - and the untimely end inevitable.
'It was star-crossed lovers. It was bad,' he says.
For all his foresight though, Grant cannot shed light on the supposed perpetrators of the crime.
'Who knows who did it? I think there are questions still to be answered, but don't ask me. I sought closure on that and I've got it.'
Although Grant was a great confidante of Diana and privy to her deepest secrets, their friendship was not widely publicised until after her death, when Diana's butler Paul Burrell revealed details of their relationship.
The rest of his friends in the royal family - the Queen Mother, Margaret - all are dead, he laments.
With Diana though, it was special.
'I loved it,' he said of his close relationship with Diana. She was wonderful.'
Foresight? Grant says he warned Diana not to go away with Dodi, saying their relationship was 'so fated it would end in tears'
