She was supporting her friend as she performed in a modern-day musical.
But Cheryl Cole looked as though she was trying to channel Shakespeare last night with a bizarre ruff-style collar.
The axed X Factor judge - known for her fashion hits and misses - watched Girls Aloud band-mate Kimberley Walsh as she made her West End debut in Shrek The Musical.
The 29-year-old has replaced Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, who is pregnant with her second child, as Princess Fiona.
Cheryl's black and white fitted dress also sported an interesting puffed piece of material around her waist which matched the collar.

The 28-year-old tweeted her excitement during the performance, adding a photo of her backstage with Kimberly with the caption 'Me and my Princess Fiona'.
She completed the look with a pair of black and white pointed heels.
The look was a far cry from her attire at Monday night's Pride of Britain Awards, when she donned a gorgeous pink dress from Victoria Beckham's latest collection.

Cheryl posed happily backstage at London's Drury Lane Theatre with Kimberley and their fellow band mate Nicola Roberts, who celebrated her 26th birthday today.
After the show she wrote: 'Kimberley absolutely Killed it.. What a great show !!'
She added: 'Happy Birthday to my girl Ginge @NicolaRoberts .. Love you sooo much.. Let's party Biiiiittttttttcccccches!!!'
In contrast to Cheryl's attempt at glamour, Nicola opted for a more rock chic look last night with a cute high-waisted skirt and a black leather jacket.

Kimberley was the perfect doppelganger for Princess Fiona, donning a long red wig, gold crown and the character's signature green velvet dress.
It was announced in August she would be joining the cast of Shrek.
She has been working hard to pursue her acting career since Girls Aloud announced they would be taking a hiatus.

As well as starring in recent children's movie Horrible Henry, Kimberley took on the role of Eponine in Les Miserables for ITV2 documentary The Passions Of Girls Aloud back in 2009.
In fact, it was in Les Miserables that Kimberley first started her career, starring as Cosette when she was just 12 years old.
Amanda left the show two months earlier than she had originally planned.

She wrote on her official website that she would be putting her pregnancy ahead of her commitments with Shrek.
'My first priority is of course my family.I will therefore be adjusting one of my professional commitments accordingly,' she said.

'Due to its physical content this means I will end my contract with Shrek The Musical eight weeks early.
'I will endeavour to continue the show until the 3rd October. I do however ask you to bear with me as I will be putting myself and this pregnancy first.'

The production follows on from the blockbuster Mike Myers films about Shrek, a grumpy, smelly ogre, who is hiding a heart of gold.
The musical focuses on the story from the first film in which the hermit Shrek, played by Nigel Lindsay, is forced to face the world when the evil Lord Farquaad (Nigel Harman) exiles ‘freak’ fairy tale characters from his city and sends them to live in Shrek’s swamp.
