Brunettes have more fun: Katie Waissel swaps her blonde crop for a long brown wig as the X Factor tour reaches Cardiff

By Daily Mail Reporter

Long locks: Katie Waissel sported long brown hair - a change from her blonde crop - when she went for a picnic lunch in Cardiff

Since she first came to prominence on The X Factor Katie Waissel has had no shortage of different hairstyles.

However the 24-year-old opted for an entirely different look when she arrived in Cardiff for the latest leg of the show's live tour.

Katie wore a long brown wig for a picnic lunch outside the city's civic centre ahead of the latest gig at the Cardiff International Arena on Friday.

Different look: The 24-year-old, who teamed her hair with a skull motif T-shirt and leggings, was on the last leg of The X Factor live tour

And it was a world away from the cropped blonde cut which she has been sporting on the live shows recently.

Katie was a blonde when she originally auditioned for the show although reverted black to cropped brown hair during the live finals.

More familiar: Katie has reverted from dark hair back to a blonde crop during the tour

She teamed the look with a black skull motif T-shirt, black leggings and boots, as well as topping off her locks with a battered-looking black hat.

Katie has been joined on the tour by Rebecca Ferguson, Mary Byrne, One Direction, Wagner, Paige Richardson and winner Matt Cardle.

Seeing red: Cher Lloyd kept her red hair loose as she left the Park Plaza hotel in Cardiff

More arrivals: One Direction's Liam Payne was also spotted outside the Cardiff hotel as was Wagner

Cardiff is the last stop on the tour which has also travelled to cities including Glasgow, Nottingham, London and Liverpool.

Katie - who became one of the most hated contestants in X Factor history after she appeared in the live finals and survived five sing-offs - recently said she was glad she had had that reputation on the show.

Was it all worth it? ‘Of course it hurt being called the most hated person in Britain, because I’m only human,’ she said.

Smiles on the bus: Rebecca Ferguson appeared in a lively mood as she left the hotel for the Cardiff venue

‘There were many times I asked myself if I wanted to go through with it. But I learnt to keep calm and keep believing in myself. I had a lot of support from people who love me, so that helped.’

She also credited her fanbase - known as Waissel's Warriors - for keeping her going.

‘They got me through some dark days when the hate campaign was at its worst,' added Katie. 'They alone have made it all worth it.’
