High price tag: Richard Hammond is selling the Morgan Aeromax for a cool £100,000 through Mole Valley Specialist Cars in Surrey
Top Gear star Richard Hammond might be a car enthusiast with a heaving bank balance but he’s decided to sell his utra-rare British sports car – and has set a £100,000 price tag on it.
The luxury vehicle has been sitting on the driveway of Hammond’s mansion, nicknamed Hamelot, alongside a series of motorbikes, Jaguar E-Type, convertible Aston Martin, Porsche 911 and his Land Rover.
But it seems Hammond is ready to sell off one of his toys, despite his Aeromax being one of only six right-hand drive manual models of the car ever made.
Hammond’s high salary from the TV licence-funded BBC programme enabled him to acquire such a prestigious car collection but after owning the Aeromax for only two years, is selling it for £99,950.
The 41-year-old presenter is the only owner of the 2008 Morgan Aeromax, which he raved about on the hit motoring show.
Only 100 of the Morgan Aeromax were ever made, with only six being right-hand drive manuals – giving it the air of exclusivity a traditional supercar cannot match.
He has gone through Surrey-based Mole Valley Specialist to sell it and director John Heywood said: 'The Morgan Aeromax is one of those cars which passersby give the thumbs up too.
'It's very rare, very fast and sounds like a spitfire - and it comes with one previous infamous owner!'
The Aeromax boasts a 4.4-litre BMW engine which boasts a brutal 325bhp, giving the Morgan a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180mph.

A mix-mash of English styling and German engineering, the Morgan Aeromax certainly grabbed the attention of the petrolhead faternity when it was announced in 2006 with all 100 models instantly selling out.
Top Gear has faced controversy over recent months after its presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Hammond and James May have made a series of offensive jokes.
In one episode they poked fun at Mexican, joking that Mexican cars reflected national characteristics, saying they were ‘just going to be lazy, feckless and flatulent.’
The Mexican ambassador complained to the BBC about the ‘outrageous, vulgar and inexcusable insults’ made on the show and the scenes from the episode had to be cut before being broadcast in the United States.
