Unfortunate: Alex Gerrard was caught out by a gust of wind as she left the hairdressers in Liverpool today
You could maybe understand it if she was on her way to a hair salon.
But as she left the hairdressers in Liverpool, Alex Gerrard was unfortunately caught out by a strong gust of wind, causing her top layer of hair to blow up and reveal the several rows of hair extensions underneath.
However, the 28-year-old WAG, wife of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, seemed unaware that waiting photographers had captured a shot of her beauty secret, and continued on her way home
Beauty secret revealed: The wind revealed Alex's several rows of hair extensions
Mother-of-two Alex's faux pas ironically comes just days after she was named the Most Stylish Scouser at an awards ceremony.
Recalling the moment she picked up her prize, she wrote in her column in OK! magazine: 'Last week I went to the Juice FM Style Awards and won the Most Stylish Scouser!
'I was really chuffed but I was so nervous going up to collect it, I’m terrible at things like that.'
That's better! Alex's extensions were covered only by a thin layer of hair
Alex isn't the only celebrity to rely on hair extensions to give her the voluminous look favoured by stars on the red carpet.
Britney Spears has famously been struggling with her extensions in recent months, stepping out with matted hair in incredibly bad condition, while Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, Katie Price, Kelly Osbourne and Cheryl Cole are all believed to have tried the instant method of getting longer hair.
And while demand for extensions in the UK has increased dramatically in recent years, experts have warned that relying on them too heavily can, in some cases, lead to baldness.
Not a good look: Britney Spears is famous for having bad hair extensions
Barry Stevens, from the Trichological Society, which represents hair specialists in the UK, said: 'This is a very real problem. Hair extensions should be banned because they are no good at all.
'I've been involved in two cases recently and in both the claimants were successful.
'I've had people in tears at my clinic over this. The extensions can destroy the follicles so that hair cannot grow back.'
