Fancy seeing you here! Unapologetic smokers Simon Cowell and Jeremy Clarkson bump into each other at Scott's cigarette corner

They are two of the most famous celebrity smokers, so it was only a matter of time before Simon Cowell and Jeremy Clarkson bumped into each other while indulging in a cigarette.

The pair were photographed together in the patio area outside London's Scott's restaurant last night, having a chat as they puffed away.

While Cowell and Clarkson aren't particularly close, they have worked together on various occasions, including in 2007 when Cowell appeared as the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car on Top Gear.

But the interview and lap didn't go down too well when Cowell told Clarkson he needed to have Botox and a facelift to get rid of his deep-set wrinkles.

However, the pair appeared to have put their differences behind them last night, as they shared a joke with friends including comedian Jimmy Carr, who didn't seem to be joining in the smoking.

Also present at the celebrity favourite restaurant was Apprentice boss Lord Sugar, who looked as smart as ever in a black pinstriped suit.

After their tête-à-tête, Cowell went back inside the restaurant to finish his meal.

He was later seen leaving the eatery with ex-girlfriend Jackie St Clair, who wore a tight-fitted dress and carried a quirky Union Jack handbag.

The photographs of Cowell and St Clair are unlikely to please Cowell's fiancée Mezhgan Hussainy, who is said to disapprove of the businessman's continued friendships with his former partners.

And the dinner comes amid rumours he has temporarily split from Hussainy, who is currently staying with her parents in California.

Cowell's mother Julie told the Mail On Sunday the pair were 'taking a break', adding: 'The problem with Simon is that he works so hard.

'If you are Simon’s girlfriend, let’s be honest about this, you are not going to see very much of him. It’s very difficult for a girl to accept that.

‘They are on good terms and I’m sure are in regular contact. Simon remains friends with all his ex-girlfriends.

‘I think the engagement was too quick. This might give them the break they need to think it through. Marriage is a very, very big step.’

However, a spokesperson for Cowell denied the claims, and insisted he and Mezhgan were still 'very much together'.
