Slim pickings: Danielle Barrett, 29, was given the XXS Hervé Léger dress as an early birthday present from her boyfriend
The Hervé Léger bandage dress remains a firm fashion favourite - so Cheryl Cole must have thought twice before auctioning one of her own off for charity.
Millions of bidders went crazy when the former X-Factor judge decided to market 20 pieces from her wardrobe on ASOS and the body-con number was soon snapped up.
But many would have been disappointed as some of the garments appear to be too minuscule for most people to squeeze their body - if even their leg - into.
Danielle Barrett, 29, was delighted to arrive home and discover a Hervé Léger number concealed in gift wrap.
Her boyfriend, Khush Johal, 33 - an avid Cheryl Cole fan - had purchased the dark teal dress in the charity auction for £714 as part of an early birthday present.
Danielle, who turns thirty this September told MailOnline: 'I was shocked when Khush told me and was excited to see the dress knowing that Cheryl Cole had actually worn it.'
Flashback: Cheryl Cole wore the dress as she left Nobu in 2008
However she soon discovered that the garment - which retails for £1,300 - was an 'XXS', a size 0 by UK standards and 00 in the U.S. 'Its 32 inches long and 20 inches round the narrowest part of the waist!' she told MailOnline.
The PA from Telford, Shropshire hasn't even tried the dress on, but says that along with the small size she is also worried about 'spilling drinks on it on a night out and ruining such an expensive dress.'
It was a blow to boyfriend and IT consultant Khush as he had spent hours frantically bidding for the piece of pop history - which had previously been worn by Cheryl in 2008 when she dined out with Ashley Cole, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding at the Nobu restaurant in Mayfair.
On the market: The £1,300 dress is now being auctioned on eBay
This was around the same time that there were allegations that the former X Factor judge looked dangerously thin and was said to have dropped to as little as six stone.
'I was bidding till the very last minute and was even unsure after the auction had closed whether I had actually won.
'After a nervous wait I had text confirmation telling me that I was indeed the winner! I was on business in Brussels at the time and it came as a nice surprise.' Khush told MailOnline.
The couple have now decided to sell the lot item on Ebay as Danielle is unable to make good use of it.
They hope to make a profit so that they can donate a percentage to Macmillan Cancer Support as Danielle lost her brother-in-law to the illness. 'We've been discussing what to do with the dress and it seems the right thing to do, but at the moment the bids aren't looking too high.' She said.
Fond memories: Ashley and Cheryl Cole leaving London's Nobu restaurant in 2008
When auctioning the dress Cheryl said: 'I have some great memories of this dress because of the fun I had with my close friends, wearing it to a birthday party.
'It’s a gorgeous dress to look at and is absolutely timeless - you could wear it at anytime and it would still be in fashion.'
The ASOS auction, which took place in June, raised £58,000 for the Cheryl Cole Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting projects in the North East spearheaded by The Prince’s Trust.
Cheryl added: 'When I was clearing out my wardrobe it occurred to me that the clothes I was bagging up for charity could now benefit my own charity, which is really how the idea for the clothes auction started.'
