'Still friends': Suzanne Shaw and her husband Jason King, pictured here in 2010, announced today that they are splitting up

Suzanne Shaw and Jason King have announced they are ending their six year marriage.

The couple, who were dating for three years, before they announced their engagement in 2008, have blamed their hectic work schedules for the split.

In a joint statement which they released today, the pair said: 'We had a wonderful time together and have great memories but constantly working away from each other added a lot of pressure and we have ended up growing apart.

'We are still friends and will be making sure we still have family time together for our son's sake.'

Former Hear'Say star Shaw wed DJ King in Christchurch, Dorset back in June 2009 following her public split with Darren Day.

King took on the role of father to Shaw's son, Corey, after Day left her on Mother's Day in 2005 - three months after she had given birth.

Not such a long relationship: Darren Day left Shaw in March 2005 just three months after she had given birth to their son Corey

The family lived in Yorkshire where Shaw played Eve Jenson in ITV soap Emmerdale for a year from April 2010.

But last month award-winning DJ King began co-presenting Heart Breakfast alongside Lucy Horobin on local radio station Heart Solent broadcasting to southern and western parts of Hampshire, West Sussex, east Dorset and the Isle of Wight.

This added distance obviously was obviously a factor in their decision to split, but Shaw is no doubt looking to the future once again.

She can skate: Shaw won the third series of Dancing On Ice back in 2008

Since starring on Popstars in 2001 and being one fifth of popular band, Hear'Say, Shaw has enjoyed a string of successful acting and singing roles.

The blonde has taken the lead role in several musicals such as Snow White, The Rocky Horror Show and Chicago.

She also won the third series of Dancing On Ice back in 2008 and starred in children's film Horrid Henry: The Movie which was released last Summer.
