Zara Phillips takes dogs out alone after Mike Tindall is axed by England

Dressed in a track suit, Zara Phillips stepped out of the house she shares with husband Mike Tindall as she took the couple's dogs for a walk - alone.

With her baseball cap pulled fimly down her face, Zara, 30, appeared fed up and in need of some time alone with her boxer Spey and black labrador Corley.

Half an hour after, Tindall, 33, also looking downcast in a red hooded top and tracksuit bottoms emerged from the couple's £800,000 three-storey townhouse in Cheltenham, Glouctershire, yesterday morning.


The England rugby player's downbeat mood was unsurprising given that his career is effectively over after he was dropped from the national team for his off-field antics during a disastrous World Cup campaign.

He was seen walking to his car with a rucksack slung over his shoulder and snacking on an apple as he climbed into his Range Rover and drove away.

His club, Gloucester plays Toulouse in France today.

An onlooker told The People: 'Neither seemed in great spirits, but Zara loves her dogs so they will have cheered her up.

'Mike has a big game coming up and looked to have a lot on his mind'.

Earlier this week, the husband of the Queen’s grand-daughter was also fined £25,000 for his role in the team’s infamous night out in New Zealand on September 11.

His antics, with his ex Jessica Palmer at Altitude bar in Queenstown, which were captured on CCTV overshadowed the competition and set the tone for England’s appallingly poor show.

In July, Tindall married world champion eventer Zara Phillips who stood by her new husband and flew half way round the world to support him once the damage was done.

Tindall's father, Phil who has spoken of being upset by the rugby authority’s verdict has insisted his son was used as a 'scapegoat' for the poor performance of the team.
