Keeping her cool: Cher Lloyd puts on a brave face at Radio 1 following Twitter death threat

Death threat: Cher received a threatening message from one of her Twitter followers

Cher Lloyd was putting on a brave face today after receiving an apparent death threat on Twitter.

The 18-year-old was subjected to the abuse after posting a message that wished her mother a happy birthday.

She wrote: 'Its mamma lloyds birthday!! Love you mum! Xxxx.'

However moments later the singer received a chilling message back from one of her followers.

It said: 'shut the f*** up before I kill your mum in front of you.'

And a riled up Cher was quick to respond.

First play: Cher's new single With Ur Love was played on the radio today

She hit back: 'I'm sure you'd go to jail for that and get into deep s***, come on think about it dumb a**.'

She deleted the posts shortly afterwards and appeared to have put the row behind her when she was photographed arriving at BBC's Radio 1 today.

The former X Factor contestant looked excited as she got ready for her appearance on the Scott Mills show.

Supportive: Cher's boyfriend Craig Monk accompanied her to Radio 1 today

Her new single With Ur Love, which features Mike Posner, was played for the first time on the radio during the broadcast.

Cher arrived at the studio with her trainee hairdresser boyfriend Craig Monk.

She wore a black and white polka dot blouse and tiny black shorts, and added a splash of colour to the outfit with a red fringed bag.

Cher will be hoping her new track, which is due for release on October 31, has as much success as debut single Swagger Jagger after it reached the number one spot in the charts.

The love song is a step in a different direction for the singer with a softer sound than that of Swagger Jagger.

Cher sang Mike Posner's track Cooler Than Me in the Judges' Houses stage of the X Factor competition, but broke down in front of mentor Cheryl Cole because a throat infection left her unable to complete the performance.

Giving a nod to the incident, Mike can be heard singing in With Ur Love: 'I don't even care if you sing my songs wrong.'
